What's Love Got To Do With It? MNDA Charity Screening

We’re at the Phoenix Cinema for a charity screening of What's Love Got To Do With It? with the MND Association and Lily James.

Located in East Finchley, the Phoenix is an independent cinema showing art-house films, the latest releases and  live broadcasts of opera, theatre, art and dance.

Retaining the original art decor interior, the cinema was built in 1910 and is one of the oldest continuously-running theatres in the UK. Today, the Phoenix hosts a variety of events including art exhibits in the cafe-bar, director screenings and film-making workshops for the local community.

Today’s screening was in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, campaigning and providing support for people living with MND in the UK. Proceeds from ticket sales were given to the charity and guests had the chance to donate and buy limited edition signed posters.

Charming, funny and romantic, What's Love Got to Do with It? by Shekhar Kapur tells the story of a film-maker documenting her neighbour and best friend's assisted marriage. Challenging attitudes towards relationships, the film balances the importance of family commitment and traditions with love in a unique, quirky and interesting way.

Star of the film and MNDA advocate Lily James held a Q&A after the film, revealing her experience working on the film, her other roles and the importance of the charity to her and her family.

Check out what's showing at the Phoenix Cinema and you can find out more about the charity and donate a the MNDA website.
