Restaurant:

Karen's Angel

Burgers With A Side Of Sass

Prepare for terrible service, delicious food and insults galore as Karen's Diner opens their doors in Angel.

We couldn't get enough after our visit to Karen's in High Barnet, so when a new location opened in Angel, we rushed to check it out. Right next to Angel tube station, this diner is much larger than the other location, with kitschy Americana decor and cheesy pop tunes playing on the jukebox.

You'll be glad to know that the service is just as rude as you'd expect, starting the moment you walk in when they yell a table number at you to find for yourself - you will be humiliated if you get it wrong!

When you are safely seated, you're going to need a drink but don't expect the correct order to arrive on the first attempt.

Though not our drinks, The City Karen with vodka, lime, cointreau, cranberry and rhubarb and Frothy Karen with gin, seasonable berry shrub and lemon were lovely before they were snatched out of our hands.

Our actual drinks arrived shortly after. Karen Popped Her Cherry is strong and sweet with bourbon, amaretto, black cherry, cacao and lemon while The Spicy Karen packs a real kick with tequila, lime, agave and chilli.

When it comes to ordering food, vegans beware - you will be humiliated, forced to stand on your chair and booed by the whole restaurant.

Tuck into a bowl of the Mexican Karen Nachos with tortilla nachos, cheese sauce, jalapeños, guacamole and Karen’s special salsa.

We loved the deliciously crisp Halloumi Chunks with sweet chilli sauce.

If you don't eat meat and you're brave enough, order the Karen's Vegan Neighbour with a vegan patty, smoked applewood “cheese”, lettuce, tomato and vegan mayo. All burgers are served with a side of fries but don't ask for sauce, you have to get it yourself.

The 'I Want To See The Manager' Karen is a monster of a burger with two tasty wagyu beef patties, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles and burger sauce.

Don't expect to enjoy your meal in peace though as you'll picked on throughout and might even get called up to take part in a challenge or join a massive conga line through the diner. We promise it's one of most entertaining and fun restaurants to try in London!
