Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy

Storytelling and cocktails await at the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy.

What could be more intriguing than the stories of Poe paired with cocktails in a secret speakeasy?! It’s an invitation hard to resist.

The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy has been travelling the world, popping up at various bars and venues in different cities to share his tales alongside their inventive tipples.

The storytellers are fantastic, all huge fans of the poet and able to recite his stories from heart with all the dramatics and intrigue the characters deserve.

The evening includes four of Poe’s most beloved stories, told by flickering candlelight which a cocktail served at the start of each performance.

The cocktails were delicious and quite strong with the Red Death, The Raven, Pale Blue Eye and The Cat’s Meow.

We have to admit that the Camden venue really let the even down, with more of a theatre set-up than an immersive speakeasy and drunken office parties ruining the storytelling, but the good news is that it's next stop is Glaziers Hall which looks a lot more promising. The creativity and enthusing of the team would definitely encourage us to give it another visit.
