He is best known for playing Jimmy McNulty in HBO's The Wire (2002–2008); Noah Solloway in Showtime's The Affair (2014–2019), for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama; Ebenezer Scrooge's nephew Fred in A Christmas Carol (1999); and Charles, Prince of Wales, in The Crown (2022–2023), for which he was nominated for another Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.</p>
