Experience the ultimate cat therapy session with rescue felines, homemade treats, and serious cosy vibes at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium in Greenwich. 🐱
This isn't just any café – it's the UK's original cat café (the one that started it all back in 2014), reborn in a charming new spot near the Cutty Sark after a dramatic crowdfunding rescue mission. Think a cosy cat lady's house with kitty themed books, ornaments and pictures everywhere - there's even cat boardgames if you get bored of the real thing - but that's not going to happen. There's also a sunny patio where you can dine alfresco while the felines sprawl in the sunspots. It's a peaceful and perfect place for the adorable rescue cats to live their best lives while waiting for their forever homes.
We have to admit, we walked in expecting maximum chaos (have you met cats?) but left feeling zen. The current residents – @Prince, @Jinx, @Charlie, @Silvius, @Poirot and @Baloo – were absolute pros at the whole "look cute and get adopted" game. One minute you're sipping tea, the next a furry overlord is performing backflips and rubbing up against your leg to get attention. Pure magic. 😻
Though the cats are definitely the stars of the show, the food is the perfect co-star with a menu full of fresh, homemade goodness baked on-site by Temini Kasumu and many options are vegan-friendly too, so the cats don't get jealous of your snacks. 🧁
Start with some Cat Shaped Scones, you can go classic with cream and jam but we love to try something unique so we tried the Cat Shaped Mediterranean Savoury Scones with olive, garlic, herbs and chilli flakes served with a delicious whipped sundried tomato feta. The perfect bite to get you started.
The Crispy Battered Oyster Mushroom Wrap was a feast in itself, with quinoa, pickled carrot and arugula with house vegan mayo, harissa and garlic-herb butter. It's served with the crispiest Sweet Potato Fries and salad.
To wash everything down, sip on a pot of English Breakfast Tea or treat yourself to a Camomeow & Peach Spritz mocktail. Though the menu does have a wide choice of milkshakes and speciality coffees too - it was so hard to choose. 🍹
Pro tip: Leave room for whatever sweet specials are on that day. Because nothing says "I made good life choices" like cake and cat cuddles - though they're so tempting that you may need to watch out for sneaky paws.
The Paw Shaped Red Velvet Sponge Cake was gorgeous with hibiscus cream cheese style frosting and topped with mallow and hibiscus flowers. 🌸
The Cat Shaped Banana Bread was incredible with orange sauce, toffee sauce, banana chips, orange zest and edible flowers - it's moist, comforting, and exactly what you need after a long day of adulting. It tastes even better paired with the house-made banana nice cream.
Paw Truffles are a delicious little treat and make an ideal gift. We tried the truffles with vanilla sponge and dark chocolate.
Beyond the treats, this place has serious heart. Every visit helps support rescue cats (they often take in the ones other shelters can't), and if you fall head-over-heels for one of the residents, you can actually apply to adopt. Talk about a happy ever after! ❤️
The whole setup feels like a proper haven – calm, welcoming, and brilliantly cat-first (no kids under 12, which keeps the energy just right for both humans and felines). Whether you're a lifelong cat parent or just in need of some serious purr therapy, Lady Dinah's delivers.
Book your slot, meet the current crew, and support this brilliant rescue mission at the Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium website. Tell them the Sidetrack London sent you!
