Refined Korean BBQ

Discover the wonders of authentic and contemporary Korean BBQ and dining at SOOM in Covent Garden.
We’ve been excited to try SOOM since they opened their doors to booked-out tables last year and we can now confirm that it was definitely worth the wait. The restaurant is sleek and elegant, providing a peaceful retreat from the city’s busy theatre district and an ideal spot for celebrating home-made Korean recipes.
Spoilt for choice, there's a wide selection of drinks on offer including Soju and Makgeolli rice wine along with tempting cocktails and mocktails made with traditional ingredients.
The Han Oak was spicy yet smooth, mixing Jim Beam with cinnamon, while the glittering Midnight Seoul was sweet and refreshing with grenadine, Blue Curacao, soju, lemon and tonic.
The menu is modern while honouring Korea’s culinary heritage and filled with bold flavours. Alongside the BBQ, there's a wide range of starters, soups, noodle and rice dishes to appeal to every appetite. The crowd pleaser Korean Fried Chicken was succulent and crunchy, served with an addictive Korean sweet-spicy sauce, garlic soy sauce and pickled radish cubes.
Vegetarians will love the Yachae Gun Mandu which are crispy pan‑fried dumplings filled with seasoned vegetables and tofu while the Haemul Pajeon is a treat for seafood lovers with prawns, squid, octopus and mussels stuffed inside a savoury pancake with spring onion and red chilli.
One of our absolute favourite dishes was the Deulkkae Makguksu. Served cold, buckwheat noodles are tossed in roasted perilla oil and served with crushed perilla seeds, seaweed and a rich egg yolk on top to give an incredible aromatic flavour.
Comfort food at it’s finest, the Dubu Dolsot Bibimbap comes sizzling in a stone bowl with tofu, sautéed vegetables, rice and an egg yolk on top. Once mixed with either a spicy gochujang sauce or soy sauce, the egg cooks into the dish while the rice becomes crispy and delicious around the edges.
Taking BBQ to another level with high quality meat, there’s a wide selection of beef and pork cuts to choose from but we highly recommend trying a platter. The Beef Platter features with Premium Ribeye, Fillet (Tenderloin) and Boneless Short Rib served with a seasoned spring onion salad, fresh lettuce, and three varieties of Korean pickles and three Korean sauces.
As enjoyable to watch as it is to eat, the meat is cooked to your preference at the table. The Premium Ribeye, cooked medium rare with rosemary was tender inside and full of flavour, pairing perfectly with pickled beetroot and the sweet-spicy Korean sauce.
Cooked slowly on a lower heat, the Boneless Short Rib had a rich, intense buttery flavour from the marbled fat making it melt on your mouth.
A generous and premium cut, the Fillet (Tenderloin) was incredibly tender and succulent paired with roasted garlic and asparagus for an elegant and appetizing dish.
