International Sherry Week Dinner

We're celebrating International Sherry Week with a dinner party at Pizarro with Osborne Sherry.

Hosted in the chic and intimate surroundings of Pizarro on Bermondsey Street, 60 guests sat down to enjoy an evening of delicious Spanish dishes paired perfectly with a range of Osbourne Wines.

Just back from judging Copa Jerez, the most prestigious sherry competition in the world, José Pizarro welcomed guests with a glass of Osborne's Fino Quinta Bodegas and a blind tasting of his famous jamón to teach guests how to recognise the different parts of the ham.

Dinner began with Roasted Pumpkin, Jamón, Honey & Pine Nuts paired with Osborne's Fino Coquinero en Rama. The wine pairings began with lighter sherries, gradually becoming darker and richer as the evening went on.

The Pluma & Jamón Tartar was a beautiful dish, made with 100% Iberian pluma and jamón 5J with egg yolk served on toasted brioche.

An absolute favourite of the night, the Cockles were cooked to perfection with jamón 5J and fino Coquinero. They were served with a glass of Osbourne's Fino La Honda and extra bread to soak up the delicious sauce.

Moving on to the mains, the dishes became more adventurous and daring, starting with Iberian Pork Cheek & Jamón Cannelloni served with a glass of Osbourne's Amontillado La Honda.

Next came Sea Urchin & Jamón Creamy Rice served with green salad in a sherry vinegar dressing and sautéed baby carrots with jamón lardo.

For dessert, we indulged with Jose's famous savoury and sweet Choco Pot made with jamón lardo. With only 1000 bottles produced every year, Osbourne's Rare Sherry Palo Cortado Solera PAP was the perfect accompaniment to end the wonderful evening.
